An Eagle Lake man is facing stalking and reckless driving charges after an apparent road rage incident last month.
Minnesota State Patrol says a driver called 911 after a pickup merged onto the highway in front of him, forcing him to slam on the brakes. The victim honked and that’s when he says 55-year-old Scott Schaible forced him onto the shoulder and eventually began to chase the man’s vehicle.
The criminal complaint states that Schaible ended up blocking the man’s car in a dead-end cul-de-sac and threatened to kill him.
When the trooper arrived at the scene he says Schaible was in his truck with his young son and admitted to “getting pissed off” because he thought the other man was driving too fast. Schaible said he intentionally tried to force the other driver off the road. He denied making the death threat.
Court records show Schaible was on probation for drug sales and possession of child pornography at the time of the incident.
