Mankato’s Buffalo Wings and Rings raising money for the fight against breast cancer

One of Mankato’s newest sports-themed chicken wing restaurants is in the midst of a fundraiser to gather money for the fight against breast cancer.

Buffalo Wings and Rings manager Marti Bennett said ‘Chip in for the Cause’ includes a special menu with a pink tortilla chip and beer cheese appetizer, and the restaurant will donate a dollar for each of those items ordered.

In addition, he explained, “You can donate a dollar or whatever amount you want. We put your name on the wall, or your company – however you want to do it – and we’re selling t-shirts and the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.”

Just days into the fundraiser, they’ve sold so many of those shirts that they have had to place an order for more. The shirt was designed by breast cancer survivor Julie Jones.

The franchise is headquartered in Ohio, and all locations are participating in the fundraiser. Bennett said last year’s effort was successful and, “The company raised over $17,000 for the American Cancer Society so we’d love to beat that again this year.

Bennett also said area non-profits can get in touch with them for help with their own fundraising efforts. “If you have a non-profit organization and you want to do a fundraiser you can contact us and come in and promote it,” he explained, “And we’ll give you ten percent of the sales on the night that you choose.” That includes any evening Sunday through Thursday.

The BWR fundraiser runs through November 11th. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
