Mankato Police were sent on a disturbance call Thursday at about 4:00 p.m. on North Broad Street, after a 911 caller reported that a fight was taking place, and said one woman was injured and two people involved were arrested.
“When they arrived they found a female victim along with a couple of other people. This victim had a laceration to the head area,” said Commander Dan Schisel.
It appears the victim and 19-year-old Brenda Ledesma wanted to settle a disagreement and arranged the fight, but during the altercation 18-year-old Carter Groen jumped in and hit the victim – leading to the cut to her head. Schisel said, “Later in the evening a search warrant was done and we did locate the two individuals that we believe were responsible for the female’s assault.”
He added, “We’re still trying to piece it all together.”
Schisel says they are investigating possible threats made on social media. More information is expected to be released later in the day on Friday.
Ledesma and Groen are facing a preliminary charge of assault causing substantial bodily harm.
