1 Down and 15 To Go

Apr 17, 2015 -- 5:36am

The Mn Wild beat the St Louis Blues 4-2 last night in game one of their best of 7 Stanley Cup Playoff Series. The Wild need JUST 15 more wins to hoist the Stanley Cup in early June.  I am not sure I can handle that many late starts and heart pounding victories...but I would be glad to die trying.  Speed beat strength last night as the Wild used their speed to score a Jason Zucker wrap-around goal in the first period.  Matt Dumba had a Power Play blast in the second period to make it 2-0. After the Blues got on the board with around 12 minutes to go it became nail biting time.  Mikael Granlund scored an empty netter to make it 3-1 with less than 2 mins to go.  But the Blues scored on a shorthanded rush to get within 1.  Jason Pomminvile had an empty netter to ice the game with less than a minute to go.

I am exhausted...the game didn't end til 11:00p.m.  Then just TRY to go right to bed and fall asleep knowing that you are going to wake up at 4:00a.m. no matter what. Saturday's game...is a 2:00 p.m. affair...when no one would care if it's a late start.  Playoff hockey is THE BEST.

A Brave Prediction

Apr 15, 2015 -- 5:40am

The Minnesota Twins WILL WIN TODAY.  To me it's not about pitching match-ups or who is going well and who isn't.  It is about MATH.  The math says that the Royals are bound to join the rest of baseball with at least a loss...and the Twins are bound to win after losing 6 of their first 7 games.  So BANK ON IT. The Twins WILL WIN TODAY.  Just don't BANK heavily...if you know what I mean.

Got The Motor Back On My Boat

Apr 13, 2015 -- 5:42am

I Got The Motor Back on My boat this weekend. A new steering column is coming this week and we are ready for the water!!!

Really? Really?

Apr 09, 2015 -- 5:44am

So where to begin?  Ricky Fiasco...uh...Nolasco needs to be released.  I don't care if they release him and he goes to another team and wins the Cy Young Award. Frankly I'm not worried about that happening...but if it did...what are we out?  Nolasco has been embarrassing since he signed with the team.  One of the worst free agent signings in team history.  I am for losing with the young guns from here on out. Get rid of "forget about the breaking ball...give em the heater Ricky" and MIke Pelfrey...even before he makes a start...bring up Alex Meyer and Trevor May and tell them to sink or swim.

As long as I am at it...get rid of Gene Glynn...not his fault...but what do we need a third base coach for?  We haven't had a runner reach third this year. (I am kidding...I've known Gene since the 1970's...and am thrilled for him)

      Fish or cut bait. I don't know if that fits here...but it's all I could come up with..give me a break it's 5:00 a.m.

11 In A Row!

Apr 08, 2015 -- 5:28am

The Minnesota Wild won their 11th straight road game last night and qualified for the playoffs in doing so.  The game had a great up and down pace...with both teams scrambling at times to keep the game scoreless.  Mikael Granlund opened the scoring putting back a Zach Parise rebound midway thru the 3rd period...and 4 minutes later Jason Zucker made his presence known with a game winning goal off a great 2 on 1 pass.  The Wild survived another Bryan Bickel goal...with 1:48 to go and the goalie pulled and won a huge face off to the right of goalie Devyn Dubnyk with 11.8 seconds to go...got a clear and watched the clock tickoff. The Wild blocked 20 shots...Dubnyk made 37 saves and has happened so many times since "THE TRADE" Dubnyk stood tall when needed.

The Wild and Winnipeg Jets are playing the best hockey in the NHL and could be very tough outs for whomever they meet. Most important of all...I GUARANTEED the win to my nephew yesterday.  Kevin called me and asked me to "Talk him off of the ledge" about the Wild...so I told him all of the different possiblities to make the playoffs...and then said: It doesn't matter though...the WILD ARE GOING TO WIN TONIGHT AND GET IN...I GUARANTEE IT. I texted him as the final seconds ticked off of the clock and said: SO...Yeah...I Know Stuff.

Could Someone Please SCORE?

Apr 07, 2015 -- 5:29am

The season opener for the Twins didn't go so well...4-0 in Detroit yesterday so 162-0 isn't going to happen. 161-1?  Last night the Minnesota Wild were shutout 2-0 by the Winnipeg Jets...and the playoff race in the West tightened up a bit.  The Wild have a 2pt lead over Winnipeg and 3 pts over L.A. and Calgary with 3 games to play.  If the Wild win 1 game...it gets tough for everyone else...2 and they are in. The Blackhawks...the stinking Chicago Blackhawks are next on the Schedule. Bring It On.
