Gun Incident at Riverbend Estates

A Mankato man is facing possible felony charges after allegedly threatening another man with a rifle.
Blue Earth county sheriff’s deputies were called to Riverbend Estates Trailer Park in South Bend Township Tuesday afternoon by a woman who said she’d heard a gunshot near her residence. She told 911 she could see a man near a shed on her property holding the weapon. A man in her trailer went outside to investigate and yelled at the man with the gun.
Sheriff’s Captain Rich Murry says at that point, the man with the rifle allegedly pointed it at the man who had yelled at him. The gunman then walked away as the victim hid behind a vehicle in the driveway.
Sheriff’s deputies found the suspect in a garage at a nearby mobile home. Murry says he was taken into custody without incident. He says 31-year-old Bryon Allen Hanson was taken to the Brown County Detox facility. An initial court appearance is pending, but charges could include reckless discharge of a firearm and second degree assault, both felonies.
