90 Seconds

Jan 27, 2015 -- 5:28am

The NFL is now focusing their Deflategate investigation on an man who was charged with taking the footballs from the referee room to the field. There is video of him caring the 2 bags of balls into a single stall bathroom and exiting 90 seconds later.  Conspiracy theorists would have you believe that he took 12 footballs out of the bag and deflated them by 2 lbs each put them back in the bag and exited the bathroom in a minute and a half. Possible? I suppose...but I have a different theory: The gentleman walked into the bathroom...used the facilities...and exited 90 seconds later.  I understand that it seems crazy that he took the footballs with him into the john and just went to the bathroom...but I believe that is more probable than what some are accusing him of doing. If he had the balls in the bathroom for 5 minutes I could see him deflating the balls...but if you don't believe me...try it some time. Getting 12 footballs into and out of a bag takes some time...and depending if it is a mesh bag or a zippered bag it might take quite a while. If it takes a total of 3 seconds to remove and replace each football..he has just 54 seconds to deflate 12 footballs. Think of that...you stick a needle into a football and take out exactly 2 lbs of air...then remove the needle in 4 seconds and repeat 12 times and if the needle sticks one time...  Highly unlikely. My scenario has him walking into a single stall bathroom...walking up to a urinal...going to the bathroom...and leaving the bathroom within 90 seconds...seems doable.

This is silly. I read a long article over the weekend that said an equipment man for an NFL team has stated the officials regularly DONT CHECK THE FOOTBALLS WITH GAUGES.  They use the squeeze test...as in they grab the balls and give a squeeze. Very scientific.  If they have video of the guy walking into the bathroom..they have to have video of the officials using the air gauges to check each ball.  I want to see that.

The Minnesota Twins bring their Winter Caravan to the Kato Ballroom Tonight.  Jack Morris...Brian Dozier and Brian Duensing...Terry Ryan and Gene Glynn plus Dick Bremer and  T.C. Bear will all be on hand tonight.  If you don't have a ticket...just stop in anyway...there is always room for one more.  We have had great weather some years and horrible weather other years...but it doesn't usually dampen the spirits of people thinking of spring and baseball.

Possibly The Greatest Choke Job in THE HISTORY OF THE NFL

Jan 19, 2015 -- 5:42am

The Green Bay Packers had an EPIC FAIL yesterday in the NFC Championship Game Blowing a 12 pt lead with 2:10 seconds to go in the game.  I don't need to recap HOW it happened...you can see that online. I will recap WHY it happened tho...Field Goals.  Green Bay Settled for Field Goals on succesive drives to start the game and instead of running the Seahawks out of their own stadium it was just 6-0.  The Packers could have lead 28-0 at halftime instead of 16-0...GAME SET MATCH.  Aaron Rodgers is supposedly "The Greatest QB blah blah blah".....well his playoff record is 6-5..and 2-5 if you take out the Superbowl winning season. Right Now Rodgers is Brad Johnson or Trent Dilfer...he has gone to 1 Superbowl and won.  Tom Brady is heading to his 6th Superbowl...and with any luck at all would be 5-0 in those first 5 games.

Packer fans can get back to me when Rodgers wins 14 more Playoff games because that is what it will take to TIE Tom Brady's CURRENT RECORD 20 playoff wins. Of course Brady will have a chance in 2 weeks to add to his historic career....Rodgers????Well MAYBE NEXT YEAR.

It's Friday

Jan 16, 2015 -- 5:44am

It has been a busy week and I am ready for a busy weekend.  I have a Girls Basketball Game to announce tonight...tomorrow morning I  have a group of workers comng in to Fitzgerald to work on our theater...plus we are hosting a basketball tournament.  It is of course the best weekend of the football season as the conference championships are played with the winners advancing to the Superbowl.  I like My Patriots in a close one over The Colts and Seattle better DESTROY GREEN BAY...and I think that they will on their home field.

Roof Joist Booms

Jan 13, 2015 -- 5:46am

I was awoken by a large BOOM from one of my roof joists this morning around 2 a.m.  You know it is cold when that happens. here is an explanation from Henri de Marne on the website UExpress.com: The loud bang may have been caused by underground water freezing, but it could also have been caused by your roof framing being affected by the extreme cold temperature. This can put so much stress on the fasteners that you hear the entire assembly groan or sound like a gunshot. This is a common problem in very cold climates. The noise is often heard again in the spring when the stress is relieved by moderating temperatures. There is really nothing to worry about if you haven't seen any signs of separation at the joints of the different framing parts.

I knew there was nothing to it because I've heard it many times over the years living in different homes. But if it's the first time in your home...I can imagine it would scare the heck out of you.

From The Frying Pan To The FIRE?

Jan 08, 2015 -- 5:52am

So we go from a WIND CHILL WARNING and Schools closed yesterday to a BLIZZARD WARNING today beginning at noon.  1 inch of snow...and 30-40 mph winds...with some peak gusts of 50 MPH. Minnesota...ya gotta love it.  I assume that we will have schools close early today with problems of visibility of less than a 1/4 mile in open areas.

We CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE. I don't get it.
