YWCA Mankato names interim executive director

The YWCA Mankato Board of Directors has named an interim executive director.

YWCA Mankato interim executive director Laura Stevens.

Laura Stevens was a founding volunteer board member of the Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota in 2009 and became its first development director. She has over twenty years of volunteer and nonprofit leadership experience, including ten years of involvement with YWCA Mankato.

As the campaign and marketing manager for Greater Mankato Area United Way from 2012-2014, officials say Stevens envisioned and executed the successful Women with Heart luncheon and coordinated other events.

Retiring YWCA Mankato executive director Barb Dorn.

YWCA Board Chair Jennifer Lurken said the organization is grateful for the leadership Barb Dorn provided during her six years as the executive director. Dorn announced her resignation last August.

Lurken said during her tenure, Dorn elevated signature programs to new levels, launched the Racial Justice division and grew the non-profit’s regional impact through events like the YWCA Women’s Leadership Conference and It’s Time to Talk: Forums on Race.
